TLR55 Nutcracker (4WD)

The TLR 55 is designed as a nut remover device to break the seal on nuts that have been tightened up to 700ft/pounds with a rattle gun. Because of the 55:1 reduction, the risk of injury to the operator is greatly minimised.

To undo a nut at 700ft/pounds it requires less than 15ft/pounds pressure on the handle. Unlike a torque multiplier at a 8:1 reduction which would require approximately 85ft/pounds. This greatly minimises the risk of recoil injury.

OTHER APPLICATIONS:

The TLR 55 can be used in a wide range of applications where wheel nuts have been overtightened or become overtight by time or corrosion seizure. Being a compact and light weight tool makes it especially useful in remote locations and difficult to reach areas, where air hoses and rattle guns can be cumbersome, difficult or non-practical.

The TLR 55 has also been useful at:

• Taking yokes off truck drive-shafts. Flange bolts on fixed plant.
• Any nuts on earthmoving equipment.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Loosening of nuts:

• Assemble the TLR 55 with the correct sized socket on the drive end and with the bracing lug.
• Attach the TLR 55 to the nut to be loosened.
• Attach the other handle to the drive and wind in the direction that you want the nut to go positioning the bracing lug against the next nut on the rim.
• Wind the handle until the nut moves freely.
• Remove the TLR 55 and use the extension bar to remove the nut.
  

Re-tightening.

• Replace the nuts and tighten as much as possible with the extension bar.
• Attach the TLR 55 and locating the bracing lug against the opposite nut to re-tighten.
• To achieve approximate torque of 450 ft/lbs, tighten until when you release the handle, it will recoil 1 revolution.
• If accurate re-tensioning is required, attach a torque wrench to the drive of the TLR 55 at the ratio of 55:1 (eg: 450ft/lbs = 8.2ft/lbs) or direct into the socket.
